Photographs from the collection of Petty Officer Stoker Alfred Lewis Fearne
These photographs were submitted by Edward Lewis Fearne, the son of Petty Officer Fearne. PO Fearne was one of the 156 men who died when Arethusa was torpedoed by enemy aircraft on 18th November 1942.
Alfred (3rd from right on the back row) pictured at the RN barracks at Chatham (HMS Pembroke).
A proud Alfred and his bride Dorothy.
The most recent photograph of Alfred.
This is a most unusual photo, Alfred's shipmates during a spot of shore leave enjoy a beer.
I'd guess the location to be possibly Alexandria, if you have a better idea please contact me.
Some of Alfred's ship mates, not Arethusa this one I think (she was oil powered) but still a very interesting photograph.
