This photo shows Arethusa in dry dock in December 1942 at Alexandria. In the bottom left corner two men can be seen surveying the damage, the size of the men gives an idea of the scale of the damage. The hole in the side of the ship was reportedly 53 feet long by 35 feet high, damage on this scale severely affected the structural integrity of the ship. On the return home to Alex' the deck began to buckle under the strain.
